藤井風さんの海外ツアーで、海外のファンの方々が日本語の歌詞を口ずさんでいるのを聴いて、思うことがある。
風さんの曲を散々聴いているのに、私は歌詞の英語パートが聞き取れない、歌えない。
私は、中学校から大学まで学校教育の中で英語を勉強してきたし、英会話の教室にも通ってたし、実は、UKでホームステイして現地の語学スクールにも3週間だけど行ったことだってある。
人一倍、英語には取り組んできたにもかかわらず、ろくに英語が使えない。
だから、彼らが日本語の歌を歌うことに最大限のリスペクトをいだく。
すごいなあ、うらやましいなあ。
才能と言ってしまえばそれまでだけど、皆さん、ほんとに”藤井風”の歌が好きなんだね。

When I hear overseas fans humming the Japanese lyrics during Fujii Kaze's overseas tour, I have a thought.
Even though I've listened to KAZE's songs a lot, I can't really understand or sing the English parts of the lyrics.
I've studied English throughout my school education from junior high school to university, and also attended English conversation classes. In fact, I've even stayed with a host family in the UK and attended a local language school for three weeks.
Despite having worked harder than most people at English, I can't speak it very well.
So I have the utmost respect for them singing Japanese songs.
It's amazing, I'm jealous.
You could say it's just talent, but everyone really loves KAZE's songs.
