ジェイコブ・コリアーのNorth Sea Jazz Festival ライブがすごかった。
ピアノ・ギター・パーカッションと渡り奏でては、合間には広いステージを文字通り飛び跳ねて観客のクワイアを指揮し、ラップ調から讃美歌調まで、何の違和感なく歌いきる。
特に3日目は、バンド、コーラスにオーケストラまで加わって、壮大な音の世界を創出した。
何よりも魅力的なのは、彼の声。
低音の心地よい響きは深海の揺らめきのごとく私の心臓をわしづかみ、どこまでも柔らかい高音は日の光を浴びるよう。
英語が分からないからこそ、頭じゃなく身体で感じるんだろうか。
マイコーのカバー"Human Nature"のように。
藤井風さんの日本語の歌も、そんなふうに誰かに届いてるといいな。
Jacob Collier's live performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival was amazing.
He played piano, guitar, and percussion, and in between, he literally jumped around the large stage to conduct the audience choir. He sang everything from rap to hymns without any awkwardness.
On the third day in particular, he joined the band, chorus, and even orchestra to create a magnificent world of sound.
But what was most fascinating was his voice.
The pleasant sound of his low notes grabbed my heart like the rippling of the deep sea, and his endlessly soft high notes felt like I was bathed in sunlight.
Maybe it's because I don't understand English that I feel it with my body, not my head.
Like his cover of Michael Jackson's "Human Nature."
I hope that Fujii Kaze's Japanese songs reach someone in the same way.
