藤井風さんが全編英語のアルバム”Prema”で、９曲のうち５曲も歌詞を共同制作したというのは、とても興味深い。
それまでの日本語曲では極めて簡易な口語調で、しかもスラング多用だったから、どうなるのかと思っていた。
川谷絵音さんは、藤井風さんの曲について、「針の穴を通すような言葉とメロディの組み合わせの妙」と言った。
異論はない。
それは、文芸的な詩ということではなく、生きたカルチャーのナイス語彙！が秀逸なメロディに乗っている、ということだ。
いくら風さんが洋楽に馴染み、海外での活動が長くなってきたと言っても、ネイティブスピーカーと同じというわけには、なかなかいかない。
文化って、そんな甘いものじゃない。
聡明な風さんは分かっている。
そして、本当に繋がりたいと思っているんだよね。
It's very interesting that Fujii Kaze co-wrote the lyrics for five of the nine songs on his entirely English album, "Prema."
His previous Japanese songs were written in a very simple, colloquial style, with a heavy use of slang, so I was wondering what would happen.
Enon Kawatani said of Fujii Kaze's songs, "The combination of words and melody is like threading a pinhole."
I couldn't agree more.
This isn't literary poetry, but rather a wonderful vocabulary of living culture, set to excellent melodies.
Even though KAZE is familiar with Western music and has been active overseas for a long time, it's still difficult to equal a native speaker.
Culture isn't that simple.
KAZE is a brillrant man, and he understands that.
And he truly wants to connect.
