高校を卒業した藤井風さんが、進学せずに地道な音楽活動を選んだのは、早い段階から音楽を職業にすると覚悟を決めていたからだと思う。
というのも、ミュージシャンにならなかったら何になっていたかと聞かれた風さんが、「英語の先生かな」と答えているからだ。
それが学校の英語の先生なら当然大学進学する必要があるし、地元の町で生徒を集める英会話教室の先生というのが10代の青年の希望とも思えないからだ。
人間が生活していくには収入がなくてなならない。
その糧を音楽によって得てゆく決心があったはずだ。
一方で、スターダムにのし上がる夢を見ていたわけでもなさそうなのは、デビュー前のマニアックなYoutube投稿から察せられる。
オーディションなどで自分を売り込むという手段を択ばなかったことが、今も彼の方向性を示していると思われるのだ。

To make a living, one needs an income.
He must have been determined to earn that livelihood through music.
At the same time, his niche YouTube uploads from before his debut suggest he was not necessarily dreaming of rocketing to stardom.
The fact that he did not choose to promote himself through avenues like auditions seems to reflect the direction he continues to take today.
